About the Greater NY Gesneriad Society

Our Meetings

Our monthly meetings feature an educational program or lecture, a judged Little Show, a Sales Table, hospitality, and the latest news in the Gesneriad community.

The Plant Sales Table is stocked and run by donors. Plants are very reasonably priced, and all proceeds support the society. Best of all, our knowledgeable members are on-hand to answer questions and give you growing tips. Donations to the plant sales table (plants, cuttings, rhizomes/tubers, all pest-free and properly labeled) are always welcome.

The monthly Little Show is a great opportunity to show off your best specimens and learn about how gesneriads are judged. Please bring a well-grown, pest-free plant to enter - you never know, you might win a blue ribbon!

Our Hospitality Table features fresh coffee and tasty treats. All donations are very greatly appreciated, whether it's a few dollars to offset costs or a plate of home-baked cookies.

Our Publications

In addition to our meetings, each month we publish a newsletter, Glox News.

We welcome contributions! Send articles, photos, questions, requests, suggestions, cultural questions or any requests for plants or supplies your editor at piabinha@yahoo.com. Deadline is always two weeks before meeting date.

Check out our society’s Facebook page with more regular updates (including recent photos of members’ plants and of our meetings).  (You don’t have to join Facebook to view our photos or posts.

Want to learn even more about gesneriads? The Gesneriad Society offers Gleanings, a free monthly e-newsletter that includes articles and photos selected from chapter newsletters, the journal Gesneriads, and original sources. You can subscribe via email or download them from this page.
